Why we process your data (processing purpose) and on what legal basis

For merely information use of the website, we only gather the personal data that your browser transmits to our server.  If you would like to view our website, we gather the following data that we technically require to display our website and to ensure its stability and security (legal basis is Article 6 Par. 1 p. 1 Clause f GDPR).

If you contact us via e-mail or a contact form, we store the data you transmit that is necessary to answer your questions (legal basis is Article 6 Par. 1 p. 1 Clause f GDPR).

What data do we process

When using the website, we process the following personal data:

• IP address of the accessing device
• the name of the accessed file
• transmitted data volume
• Browser type
• Date and time of the access

If you contact us via e-mail or a contact form, we store the data you transmit (e.g. insurance number, surname, first name, street, house number, postcode, town/city, telephone number, e-mail address, your enquiry).

In addition to the aforementioned details, cookies are stored on your device when using our website.  Cookies are small text files that are stored on your hard drive and are linked to the browser you use.  Whoever places a cookie can gather and evaluate certain information through the cookie.  Cookies cannot carry out programmes or transmit viruses to your computer.  They serve the purpose of making the Internet offer more user-friendly and effective overall.  You can find further information below in the section “Use of cookies”.

Do I have an obligation to provide data

The use of our website is not possible without processing your personal data. The use of cookies, on the other hand, is voluntary. You can configure your browser settings according to your wishes and e.g. reject the acceptance of third-party cookies or all cookies.

How long is my data stored for

We delete your personal data as soon as it is no longer required for the purposes stated above or restrict the processing if there are legal storage obligations.  You can find details of the storage duration of cookies in the section “Use of cookies”.

What data protection rights do I have

Each affected person has the right to information according to Article 15 GDPR, the right to correction according to Article 16 GDPR, the right to deletion according to Article 17 GDPR, the right to restriction of the processing according to Article 18 GDPR, the right to objection according to Article 21 GDPR, as well as the right to data portability according to Article 20 GDPR.  The restrictions according to §§ 34 and 35 BDSG (Federal Data Protection Law) apply to the right to information and the right to deletion.  If the data processing is on the basis of your consent, you can revoke it at any time with effect for the future according to Article 7 GDPR.

This can include e.g. content such as images or texts and buttons with which the user can use and search the incorporated content. Web analysis through Matomo

On our website we use the Open Source software tool Matomo (formerly PIWIK) to analyse the surfing behaviour of our users (legal basis is Article 6 Par. 1 Clause f GDPR). The software places a cookie on the device of the user (see above about cookies). If individual pages of our website are accessed, the following data is stored:

• two bytes of the IP address of the accessing system of the user,
• the browser type and browser version you use,
• the operating system you use,
• your country of origin,
• date and time of the server enquiry,
• the number of visits,
• the time spent on the website,
• the external links you use.

The software runs exclusively on the servers of our website. Storage of the personal data of users only takes place there.  There is no passing on of the data to third parties.

The software is set so that the IP addresses are not stored in full, instead 2 bytes of the IP address are masked (e.g. 192.168.xxx.xxx). This means that it is no longer possible to assign the shortened IP address to the accessing device.

The processing of the personal data of users allows us to analyse the surfing behaviour of our users.  By evaluating the gathered data, we are able to compile information about the use of the individual components of our website.  This helps us to constantly improve our website and its user-friendliness.  Our justified interest in processing the data according to Article 6 Par. 1 Clause f GDPR also lies in these purposes.  Owing to the anonymisation of the IP address, the interests of the users in the protection of their personal data are sufficiently met.

The data is deleted as soon as it is no longer needed for our recording purposes.  This is the case at the latest after 182 days.
